Hornafjordur, small fishing town most famous for lobster.
Hornafjardarbaer is the main community in southeast Iceland, centred aroun the town of Höfn in Hornafjörður. It began to develop at the end of last century and the first store to be set upthere is still standing, restored and serving as museum. Höfn was isolated from south Iceland until the comlpoetion of the Ring Road in 1974, which has brought it within easy reach; there are also daily flights to and from Reykjavik. Ósland, within the town limits, is a protected leisure area. Höfn is the main base for adventure expedions onto Vatnajökull glacier. Population abut 2.500
